Walkabout daily from 10 am to 6 pm
Apart from the about 120 exhibits on show, it is the very unique locations that make our walkabout so remarkable. It will take you to an old brewer’s cellar, a former butchery, a bakery, an abandoned blacksmith’s shop, the Widum (parish grounds) and other special places in the village. The walkabouts start at the Werkraum house, our headquarters and general meeting point during this week of celebrations of craftsmanship, where our guests are also welcome to eat and drink and enjoy our other special events.
Handwerk + Form
First held in 2000, the Handwerk + Form competition has become a triennial tradition organised by Werkraum Bregenzerwald. It is an integral part of our efforts to promote co-operations between craftspeople and designers, to enhance the quality of crafts products and to initiate more exhibitions and publications.
High quality standards in building and living and great awareness for the importance of materials and proportions have a long-standing tradition in the Bregenzerwald region. The Handwerk + Form competition seeks to bring this heritage to the spotlight and to keep it alive. An exhibition showcasing all submissions is arranged alongside the competition.
For the first time in the history of Handwerk + Form, joint projects of Werkraum Bregenzerwald members and international design schools will be presented in a non-competitive special exhibition. Experimental interior objects were made in cooperation with students of the Royal College of Art (RCA), London, whereas marketable small-batch series were realised with students of Manual and Material Culture at the New Design University St. Pölten (NDU), Lower Austria. The prototypes can be seen at the local inn, Jöslar, as a part of the Handwerk + Form walkabout.
